Propylene prices went up in Asia last week due to higher upstream energy prices coupled with strong downstream buying trends in the region. Higher demand for downstream products and tight availability of Propylene supported the price rise.

On the last trading day of the previous week ending June 14, Propylene prices were assessed at US$ 1360/ton FOB Korea. On the same day, prices were quoted at US$ 1350/ton FOB Japan. In the Chinese market, prices were assessed at US$ 1425/ton.

In S E Asia, Propylene prices opened at US$ 1260/ton in the beginning of week under reveiw, which increased by US$ 50/ton by the end of the week and were assessed at US$ 1310/ton.

In the European market, prices opened at € 1110/ton last week, but declined during the week and were assessed at € 1080/ton on June 13.

In the US market, selling offers were at 53.87 cents/pound in the beginning of the week and increased marginally to 54.00 cents/pound on Friday.
