Feb '08
A recently released statistical report from the Ministry of Industry and Trade confirms that in the last fiscal year 2007, textile and apparel industry expended around 3.98 billions for importing raw materials mainly fabrics, to be used for local production. The figures represented a year–on–year growth of 33.6 percent.

China remained the largest supplier of fabric, during this period, valued at US $1.35 billion, accounting for 34.1 percent of total import turnover of Vietnam.

Besides fabric, Vietnamese textile and apparel industry poured huge amount to import cotton and fibre as well.

The available data further reveals that together fabric, cotton and fibre accounted for 65 percent of total materials imports turnover in 2007.
