Spectrum to become Green & Sustainable

With the decline of the traditional USA textile business over the past several years most companies have initiated development of new products and markets to better assure survival.

Spectrum initiated this effort for our Kings Mountain yarn dyeing and our Marion texturizing plants. At Kings Mountain we view our dyeing machines as pressure kiers with the goal of finding “things” to do in them in addition to dyeing yarn.

At Marion we specialize in non-commodity yarns… different filament counts, lusters and cross-sections. We specialize in our 360º 100% PCR textured yarns and Trevira flame retardant yarns, natural and dyed. At the same time, we initiated a movement for Spectrum to become GREEN and SUSTAINABLE. 100% sustainability by 2012 is our goal.

It takes a GREEN yarn company to make a GREEN yarn. We have 360º for our Bottle Story- 100% Post consumer filament polyester from recycled plastic bottles. We have Eco-Dyed for all yarns dyed in our Green Manufacturing Kings Mountain, NC plant.

We are Cradle to Cradle MBDC certified for our 360 PCR PET (Polyester) dyed yarns and our Kings Mountain dyeing processes are Silver MBDC certified. It is now time to share more fully with you the results and status of our efforts.

We have the trade-mark FOX for this FR treatment process. This is our most important new process to date. With a patented process we apply FR additives to packages of 100% Cotton and Cotton Blends.

FOX processed yarn is for the mattress, military, protective, safety and sock industries. FOX processed yarns impart comfort, durability and economics to knitted and woven fabrics. The yarns can be dyed before or after the FOX process.
