During the week from 9th to 14th Feb 2009, import price of cotton rose sharply in comparison to previous week and stood between US $830-1,667 per ton, an official source from Vietnamese General Customs Department said.
The prices quoted from the US went up by 15.2 percent when compared to prices prevailing in the previous week and up 14.2 percent when corresponded with prices in the same period of 2008.
Cotton supplied from Pakistan grew by an astounding 20 percent to touch $1,280 per ton. However, cotton prices quoted by Brazilian suppliers fell by 2.9 percent and stood at $1,544 per ton. Cotton imported from Cameroon was imported at $1,660 per ton.
