A delegation from the Taiwan Textile Research Institute is expected to embark on its first maiden visit to Chinese mainland in March, with a hope to pave a way and find new opportunities for investments from the Taiwan textile industry. The institute will also invite association delegations from China to also visit Taiwan as a reciprocation gesture.

This was revealed by Mr Wang Ya Kang, Chairman of the Taiwan Textile Research Institute. He pointed out that on this trip the delegation will mainly visit Beijing and Shanghai, with a hope to forge closer ties with their counterparts in their neighbouring country and hopes that the visit will fructify in to more investment opportunities from the Taiwan textile industry.

He said, the main agenda of the visit was closer cooperation between the two sectors of both the countries. The other aspect of the visit is to explore the possibility of introducing high quality cotton from the mainland in to Taiwan and re-export the high value products after processing of this cotton. He added by saying that no conclusions can be drawn on the success of the visit at this early stage.

Mr Wang and the delegation are also expected to visit a few academic and research units, but this trip will not include visits to any manufacturing location.
