Ramtex, Inc., the Ramseur, North Carolina based yarn and fabric manufacturer, is planning to shut down its yarn manufacturing unit, exactly 21 years after it began operations in February 1988. Ramseur had taken over a textile unit in the late 80's and invested heavily in technology and equipment.
This decision of Ramtex will mean laying-off around 205 employees of the textile mill. In a message conveyed to its employees, the management ha said that continuing losses and decline of the textile industry had prompted them to take this step.
The 800,000 square foot modern manufacturing facility of Ramtex, houses a variety of yarn manufacturing technologies including Murata air jet spinning, Murata Vortex spinning and 30,000 ring spinning spindles directly linked to automatic winders.
