Next we asked them about the market share of the industry in Surat on a national level and how much of that has been seized from embroiders in Varanasi and Kolkatta, to which Mr Chavatia said, “It's my personal overview that as of date, Surat has nearly 60-70 percent of the market share in the country and according to me the embroidery industry in Surat has seized more than 50 percent from Varanasi and Kolkata”.
To the concluding question, as to how both of them foresee the sector performing in the next two-three years, both sounded very positive. Mr Jariwala said, “New attachments and new materials that can be used in embroidery process are the key factors for its growth”, while Mr Chavatia said, “I am not able to predict about next 2-3 years but it is going to be boom time at least until December 2009”.
He concluded by optimistically saying, “I think it is a very good period for the embroidery industry and I have not seen see this type of embroidery boom in last three years, but I also think upcoming time is also not bad”.
