The first ever International Conference on “Steering Mature Business: A Leadership Challenge to Textile Industry” opened today to a rousing reception in Ahmedabad, the once so called 'Manchester of the East' from the 200 plus various industry leaders and stakeholders from the textile industry present on the occasion.

The conference has been organised by Fibre2fashion, the leading global B2B website for the textile, apparel and fashion industry in association with Ahmedabad Management Association, pioneer in the management movement. The morning began with registration of all the delegates, who have come from across the length and breadth of India.

On the dais were present, Mr Sanjay Lalbhai, CMD of Arvind Ltd, Mr JN Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Mr Naishad Parikh, Director of Equinox Ltd, Dr PR Roy, convener of the conference and Mr Sanjiv Shah, CEO of Fibre2fashion.

The session began with lighting the traditional lamp, by all those present on the dais, after which Mr Lalbhai declared the conference open, by releasing the souvenir booklet of the conference.

Dr PR Roy began the proceedings by announcing the objectives of the conference. He called this seminar a 'Conference with a difference', by saying that most of the conferences dealt with technical or productivity related subjects, but the primary objective of this conference is to deliberate the less discussed key issues concerning the industry and bring forth solutions for the improvement of the sector as a whole.

This seminar, he said, will delve on discussing competition as a strategy, along with external factors affecting the textile sector, as these are important issues which affect the textile and clothing industry and will be discussed in detail, by industry experts and which will also let the participants of the conference to address their queries to these experts.
