Amicor - intelligent fibers promote healthy living

The Smart and Intelligent, Anti-Microbial and Anti-Dust Mite Amicor branded fibers use the “Late Injection Technology” which when incorporated in textiles have proven benefits in providing a healthy and protected sleeping and living environment, free from microbes and dust-mite allergens.

Amicor Fiber Technology is a leader in all bio-active textiles for home, hospitals and sports textile sectors. Amicor Protect and Amicor Breathe are the latest fibers developed and included along with the flagship Amicor Pure fibers, in response to increased consumer and lifestyle demands for healthy clothing and home textiles.

Amicor Protect (anti-bacterial only) and Amicor Breathe (anti-fungal only) have joined Amicor Pure in the specialist fiber product portfolio to improve cleanliness and comfort for the user.

Amicor Pure, the leading anti-fungal and anti-bacterial fiber prevents dust mites from colonizing on textiles and provides a healthy atmosphere free from allergens. Amicor Pure has well established itself specifically in beds and beddings sectors and is now gradually extending into clothings, socks, shoes and the carpets arenas.

Amicor Protect has been developed specifically for healthcare textiles and uniforms to reduce the explosive growth of harmful bacteria and to ensure infection control. The fiber's anti-bacterial properties do not kill organisms but prevents the reproduction of harmful pathogens on fibers and fabrics for healthcare and hospital uniforms, socks, footwear, bandages, wipes and towels.

Amicor Breathe has been developed specifically for the home textile (beddings and soft furnishings) sector to cater increasing consumer demand for a safe and healthy living. Research undertaken by Cambridge Entomology (on behalf of Amicor) has shown that Amicor Breathe is as effective against dust mites and air borne allergens as Amicor Pure.

Amicor has functional additives incorporated into the fiber structure thus making these durable and long-lasting. Tests have shown that Amicor fibers retain the antimicrobial performance even after 200 hospital washing cycles which is roughly equivalent to the expected life of most fabrics. Amicor fibers are gentle, safe and soft and are dyeable to the most delicate shades.

The Amicor fiber is available in both tow and staple form in a wide range of deniers (1.3 dtex to 17 dtex) and can be blended with any fiber to make a large range of functional blend yarns. Amicor has been awarded a number of endorsements from leading European organizations. Amicor is the first fiber to be granted the Seal of Approval by the British Allergy Foundation in 2002. It has also been endorsed by Red Cross Asthma Hospital, Barcelona. Amicor Pure complies with all regulations governing antimicrobials for use in textiles. It is on the Oeko-Tex “White List” Standard 100 of approved antimicrobials for use in ecologically safe textiles. It is presently the first and only fiber to becertified by REACH SVHC.
