US Entrepreneur Emilie O'Leary has created a new art form with the launch of her business, Couture Art. The company imports hand-embroidered couture fabrics from Europe and Asia and frames them for the art market: boutique hotels, cruise ships, interior design firms, and art collectors.

O'Leary was inspired on a trip to Paris where she encountered haute couture fabrics so beautiful and detailed she felt they should be treated as fine art.

"The fabrics I import are the same used to make haute couture designer gowns. We carefully frame select pieces of the fabric to create wall art with three-dimensional depth and texture. It really appeals to interior designers who appreciate fine fabrics."
The background canvas of chiffon, charmeuse or fine silk is adorned by hand with metallic thread, beads, crystals, sequins, feathers, and jewels in a variety of designs ranging from floral to nautical.

The Deljou Art Group in Atlanta, GA, will soon showcase some of Couture Art's framed works. Sales Director Anthony Deljou says, "The creations of Couture Art are completely different from anything I've seen before.

"Taking these magnificent fabrics off the runway and putting them on the wall where people can get close enough to appreciate their complexity, depth and beauty is brilliant. Finally, couture fabric gets the respect and attention it deserves."
