The textile exports from the country have registered a rise of over 20 percent over the past seven months and as such the Ministry of Textile Industry's working under the visionary leadership of Rana Farooq has been highly commended.

Several associations associated with the value-added textile sector including the Pakistan Denim Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Towel Manufacturing Association, Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), Pakistan Cloth Merchant Association and Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association have expressed their full faith in the Textile Minister's efforts aimed at enhancement of the sector.

As stated by these association leaders, the Minister had well managed the sector during this difficult phase and now his efforts have started materializing as the country's textile exports are growing fast. They stated that, it is after a long time that the textile industry has registered strong growth and the country's overall export is also expected to surpass the $20 billion level due to the improved performance of the textile sector.

The Federal Government, too in response to the efforts of the Textile Ministry has come out with a five-year textile policy and that the present rise in the textile exports is also due to this policy, they said.

They claimed that, if any changes take place in the Textile Ministry at the top level, it would straightway affect the growth of the value-added textile industry and may even delay or endanger some other projects including the EU concession. However, the association leaders are positive on that the Minister would continue as the industry head and that the textile industry would play an important part in enhancing the country's economy with Rana Farooq's persistent efforts.

The textile leaders further stated that, the Minister, after the announcement of the individual textile policy, has employed all his efforts to boost the textile exports and has even surmounted all the impediments right from the energy crisis to training issues, and has thus well demonstrated his participation in every segment of the industry.
