Designs from down under at Australian Style in London

Australian Trade Commission announces that for Australian fashion with Austrade outlining new ground to globally raise the profile of down-under designs during its annual event, Australian Style in London.
Austrade's London-based Senior Business Development Manager, Jemma McCowan said the latest crop of hot Australian designers are invited to preview their Spring/Summer collections to the UK and European fashion industry at Australian Style in London (May 17–18 2006).
“Last year's event saw designers attract immediate orders, media coverage and long-term partnerships with British, Irish and European companies,” Ms McCowan said.
“Austrade's looking to expand the traditional buying channels that Australian designers explore to include independent boutiques across the UK, and raise the profile of Ireland as an exciting export destination in its own right."
“Amongst last year's attendees at Australian Style in London were key UK and Irish buyers Liberty, Harrods and Brown Thomas, trade bible Drapers and international visitors from Italy, Sweden, France and Ireland – the event is becoming a 'must see' for fashion buyers."
“The UK trade is really interested in commercial collections that offer the quality and fresh originality that Australian design has become reputed for. There are broad opportunities in this market ranging from party dresses to +35 women's wear ranges and menswear. The key is to have a solid commercial proposition, as well as great styling,” she said.
