Dialogue with SMEs on issues & challenges in ICT Implementation

National Productivity Corporation had successfully organized two dialogue sessions on Issues and Challenges in ICT Implementation in Petaling Jaya and Johor Bahru respectively.
The dialogue which was held from 28th to 30th August 2007 focus to discuss on issues and challenges faced by small and medium enterprises in their ICT implementation journey.
Apart from the dialogue session, the participants were exposed with the findings of the Study on the Impact of ICT Implementation among SMEs undertaken by NPC early this year.
Among the issues that were raised during the session was lack of resources skilled with ICT knowledge. The participants acknowledge that the SMEs need assistance in the form of training for their staff to increase their skills and knowledge in ICT. The participants also noted on the accessibility of ICT infrastructure.
Majority of the respondents agreed that the service providers should improve their quality of service to ensure smoother access to Internet. The session proved to be fruitful for SMEs as they can share the issues and challenges faced when implementing ICT.
