Indian Acrylics to export 50% of its produce after expansion

Indian Acrylics Ltd, one of the largest producers of manmade acrylic fibre in India is increasing its acrylic fibre production capacity to 50,000 metric ton at its plant near Sangrur.

To achieve this it has invested Rs 128 cr in the ongoing expansion for the same.

The Managing Director of the company, R K Garg informed that 30 percent of his total production was being sold presently in overseas markets which would rise to about 50 percent after completion of current expansion.

The company would be exporting 24,000 MT of acrylic fibre per annum from 2007 onwards after completion of expansion program.

The company was commissioned in 1993 and started production with the manufacturing of acrylic staple fibre bright.

Garg said that the post quota regime has opened up several opportunities for Indian textile companies to expand its business.

He has imported state-of-the-art machinery from Germany, Italy Japan and China to produce international quality products.

Indian Acrylics had earned an export earning of Rs82 crore in 2004-05 period and is expected to earn Rs150 crore in the year 2006-07.

The company exports to Europe, USA with plans to explore new markets especially in Middle East said Garg.

He said that they added acrylic tow which was developed in-house by their own R&D team.

The company was all set to manufacture 10,000 metric tonne of acrylic tops per annum.

Garg said that of the total investment, Rs40 crore has been set aside for 9 MW capacity husk based power plant.
