Roberts' Wool Link for Tasmanian wool-growers

Agribusiness firm Roberts has launched a new venture to increase the sale of Tasmanian wool to key customers in Japan and North America under a major marketing initiative called Roberts Wool Link.
Managing Director for Roberts, Miles Hampton said Roberts Wool Link is the most significant initiative to be presented to wool-growers since the introduction of the auction system. “The Tasmanian wool industry has a unique opportunity to separate itself from the Australian clip and to develop itself as a branded product instead of being viewed as just a commodity,” Mr Hampton said.
“Boags, Blundstone and King Island Dairy have developed unique brands relying in large measure on the origin of their great products.” “We are confident that Tasmanian wool can also build an icon-brand linking the qualities of Tasmanian wool with the uniqueness of Tasmania. “
“Tasmania's place in the world, with its island geography, clean air, pristine wilderness, and rugged coastline, provide an opportunity to build a brand that retailers and consumers are not only demanding but are also willing to pay a premium.”
“Our work over the past three years has clearly established that there is value in product that is branded as Tasmanian wool,” Mr Hampton said. A number of major retailers in Japan and North America are currently marketing products that are branded as Tasmanian wool and growing consumer interest has led them to propose an increase in the range of products made of Tasmanian wool.
