Hollander Home Fashions now has ASL's certified products

Allergy Standards Ltd (ASL), an Ireland-based standards and certification body, announced that Hollander Home Fashions, one of the largest pillow manufacturers in the U.S., has received ASL's Certification Mark on its newly developed feather and down-filled bedding products.
ASL is committed to improving the lives of people with asthma and allergies by developing independent international standards for testing a wide range of products from worldwide manufacturers to determine their suitability for asthmatics and individuals with associated allergies. Hollander's natural fill bedding products have successfully passed ASL's rigorous certification protocols.
With its new line of high-performance natural-fill bedding products, Hollander builds on the innovative line of existing certified bedding which was the world's first line of bedding to earn ASL certification. Extending the certification to feather and down products follows years of research with the life sciences research and innovation organization, airmid healthgroup.
"Advancing the cause to create healthier indoor air is what drives us daily," said ASL's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. John McKeon. "We're very pleased to add Hollander's natural fill bedding to the growing number of leading consumer product manufacturers in this responsible effort. "Contrary to popular belief, there are few people who are truly feather allergic, and any reaction to feather-containing products is more likely due to feather mite and/or specific protein contaminants. Our testing provides a way, for the first time ever, to determine the level of these proteins in feather and down products," according to Dr. Bruce Mitchell, Medical Chairman of ASL.
ASL pioneered the "Asthma & Allergy Friendly" certification program in partnership with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and the Asthma Society of Canada. Companies certified by ASL bear the organization's Certification Mark registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, proving that their products have undergone rigorous testing to determine their relative suitability for people with asthma.
