During the first seven months of 2006, Vietnam exported 612 thousands dozes (1 doze = 42.6 m2 ) of product categories No. 350/650 (long skirt and over-skirt) to reap US $24.97 million, posting year–on–year surge of 256 percent and 205 percent in terms of volume and value, respectively.
According to industry and trading experts, this is one of few categories that do not bear export–quota duties to the US that resulted in high growth rate.
During the January-July 2006 period, market share of this Made-in–Vietnam garment was 10 percent, taking the second place behind China.
Vietnam's exporting price to the US market remained stable at an average of around $40.79 per doze, much higher than that of most other Asian countries, such as Cambodia at $37.1 and Indonesia $36.88, but still lower than Chinese ones $44.97 per doze).
