During August 2007, Saigon Garment Manufacturing and Commerce Joint Stock Company (GMC) achieved a record turnover for exports of garment products, with value touching VND 43 billion, equivalent to US $2.68 million.
In the first eight months of 2007, Ho Chi Minh City-based GMC has earned a total of $12.5 million from exports, with the profit margin touching $0.6 million.
GMC mainly exports products like elastic sports wears to the US and EU markets.
Listed on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, GMC is one of the leading garment industries in Vietnam which pays a high salary to its workers and produces high–quality products, resulting in stable and high turnover as well as healthy profits.
GMC employs around 3,200 labourers and expects to earn a profit of $0.9 million in 2007.
