New test data by independent global labs shows US firm Brrr’s cooling fabrics outperform other similar products and can keep people cooler and comfortable in everyday activities. Brrr’s patented technology combines natural minerals, active wicking and rapid drying to create a ‘Triple Chill Effect’ that draws heat and moisture away from the body.

The tests were conducted in the first half of 2019 by Intertek Testing Services Taiwan Ltd. in accordance with standards set forth by two globally recognized groups: the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) and the Committee for Conformity Assessment of Accreditation and Certification of Functional and Technical Textiles (FTTS).

The Brrr nylon and polyester fabrics consistently outperformed numerous other comparable products in lab tests that measure Qmax (cool to the touch), wicking and dry time. For example, Brrr nylon has a Qmax score of 0.217, which is more than twice as cool as the 0.103 score of a competing brand. Brrr polyester dried 34 per cent faster than another brand.

“These independent tests once again confirm Brrr’s superior capabilities in removing heat and moisture so people can feel comfortable and confident in whatever they do,” said Apurba Banerjee, chief scientist at the company who oversaw the testing.

Because Brrr’s cooling technology is embedded in the structure of the yarn of the fabric, it won’t ever diminish over time with repeated washings, according to a company press release.

Major retailers, including Gillz, Southern Tide, CAT apparel, Bigfoot Sock Co., Mizzen+Main, Jos. A. Bank and Men’s Wearhouse use brrr° cooling technology. (DS)
