According to Customs statistics, in July, China imported 131,400 tons of cotton, down 22.1 percent from the previous month, and 38.2 percent compared with same period last year and from January to July this year, China's total cotton imports reached 867,000 tons, down 40.5 percent year on year.
From the view of trade mode, import quantity for processing trade accounted for 37.1 percent of total imports, while, import quantity for general trade accounted for 33.3 percent and import quantity for other trade accounted for 29.6 percent.
China's cotton imports were mainly from United States (50.6 percent), Uzbekistan (12.9 percent) and Australia (5.5 percent).
China's textile and apparel exports achieved US $16.37 billion in July, down 17.1 percent from the previous month, and 12.4 percent year on year. From January to July, China's total textile and garment exports completed $72.56 billion, down 10.8 percent year on year.
