Environmental Protection Administration, Chinese Statistics Bureau and Chinese Development and Reformation Association together released a study showing the amount of infectant discharge of all provinces during the first half of this year.

The study reports that the total discharge amount of sulfur dioxide was over 12.6 million tons, down 0.88 percent than the same period of last year, and that of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) was 6.913 million tons, up 0.24 percent.

According to the 11th five-year plan, the Chinese Government aims to reduce the total discharge amount of infectants by 10 percent till 2010 and experts believe that this target can be fulfilled.

From now on, Chinese Environmental Protection Administration will strictly manage 10 important industries like the textile. Firstly, the number and capacity of the new manufacturers and projects will be strictly limited. Secondly, new projects in the 10 important industries like textile and automotive will be approved only if they succumb to Chinese environment protection policies. Finally, any enterprises found to spread pollution will be ordered to stop production or would be closed down.

In addition, Government will carry out special and surprise inspections to control pollution in the whole country.
