67th edition of SIMM, the Madrid International Fashion Fair, to be staged form 2 to 4 February 2012 at Feria de Madrid, the participation figures for the event present some highly satisfactory prospects. This fair, organised by IFEMA, features nearly 800 participating companies, which is double the number recorded back in February 2011.

The event also presents a slight increase in terms of the size of its exhibition area, which comes to 13,850 square metres. These figures, combined with the favourable progress regarding the number of trade visitors who have attended the last few editions, confirm the status of this fair as the indisputable leader in Spain for the commercial fashion and clothing industry and one of the most important events of its kind in Europe.

For their part, the IFEMA Fashion Showrooms, which bring together brands from the medium-high fashion segment at the North Convention Centre, have continued the expansion trend witnessed since their first edition a year ago.

On this occasion they will present more than one hundred brands, a 22% increase compared to last February.

For their part, Spanish companies have remained loyal to this grand trade event in Madrid, effectively maintaining the participation figures recorded at previous editions.

Over a period of three days, SIMM will present a complete overview of the latest ideas in fashion and accessories for Autumn/Winter 2012-2013, based on a comprehensive exhibition that encompasses all of the styles and collections available on the market.

Coinciding with the trade exhibition, SIMM will once again feature an Activities Programme designed to offer members of the industry interesting information regarding different aspects and the latest new developments within the fashion and retail sector. At this edition, the activities presented at the Speaker's Corner Forum will analyse different trends under the supervision of WGSN, the Trend Partner at SIMM, together with different marketing models and techniques, through the auspices of Acotex, among other bodies.

In this way, a series of different experts will analyse each day aspects of interest to members of the industry, including everything ranging from the latest trends to experiential marketing and the use of social media, not to mention aspects relating to exports, etc.

Furthermore, in its capacity as a grand meeting forum for the industry, SIMM will confirm its commitment to professionals from the industry by including an area devoted to employment in its trade area, namely Fashionjobs.com, the work pool that brings together multiple job offers and requests. Another of the new features at this edition has been organised by the Higher Centre for Fashion and Design of Madrid (CSDMM), which will exhibit the work of its best students under the heading of "Experimental Volume."

This edition of SIMM will coincide in terms of dates and venue (DC Area 12.14) with the fashion shows of the grand catwalk in Madrid, an event which, as of this edition, will be known as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. This joint staging brings together the leading representatives of the fashion industry (manufacturers and designers) at venues that are very closely linked at the IFEMA exhibition centre, whilst also expanding the range of products and services available to trade buyers.
