Fashion can be environmental protection too, said Taiwan’s meritorious fashion designer Shih Yu-lin as he unveiled his intentions to present his environment-friendly collection at forthcoming Paris Fashion Week in March.

Talking about the preparations for his showcase in Paris he said following invitation to attend the mega fashion event, he would be showcasing over 10 women’s attires, including the one prepared from fabric made from 100 percent recycled PET bottles.

Environment protection and fashion are not contradictory propositions and he highly values environmental protection and also old things, Mr. Shih told CNA, Focus Taiwan reported.

Mr. Shih bagged third prize at the Taiwan Fashion Design Award in 2010, after which he individually organized a fashion show during the Taipei International Flora Exposition which ran from November 6, 2010 to April 25, 2011.

Showcasing his work on ramp in Paris this year, Shih would follow the footsteps of renowned Taiwanese fashion designer Johan Ku, who displayed his work at the fashion week last year.

Well-known for his sculpture-like knitwear, Mr. Ku bagged first prize in the category of forward-thinking designs at the 2009 Gen Art's Styles International Design Competition.
