Saudi-based Savola Group is planning to open at least 20 Bonia and Carlo Rino boutiques in Saudi Arabia by the end of next year.
The proposal comes in the wake of the strong demand for the Malaysian high fashion leatherwear and accessories.
Savola is planning nine stores from the Malaysian-based labels by the end of this year; seven Bonia boutiques and two Carlo Rino outlets.
By the end of 2007, there will be 14 Bonia boutiques and six Carlo Rino stores in Saudi Arabia.
Savola already operates seven outlets in various parts of the Saudi kingdom at Riyadh and Taif, Jeddah where the first Bonia store opened only in May last.
Bonia is engaged in the designing, manufacturing, marketing and retailing of fashionable leather goods for the local and overseas markets.
Company produces an extensive range of leather goods like ladies' handbags and purses and has about 40 per cent of the Malaysian fashion leather goods market.
Bonia has also diversified into producing luggage, briefcases, belts, footwear and men's apparel under the Bonia, Carlo Rino, Bonia Uomo and Sembonia brandnames.
The company has reported a pre tax profit of RM21.47 million for the year ended June 30, 2006, as against RM14.37 million for the same period last year.
