City along the coast with temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius, in the middle of autumn. After traveling the country from north to south, passing through four Brazilian states, the third edition of the Texbrasil Circuit finishes up in this beach setting in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte.
The event, promoted by the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association, ABIT, with the support of the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX-Brasil) had the partnership of Sebrae RN and the State Secretary of Economic Development at this final stop.
In the morning, businesspeople and students watched lectures about the markets in Argentina, Italy, Portugal and Spain. In the afternoon, 16 companies had their products analyzed by the three consultants who took turns with each brand. “I enjoyed broadening my knowledge since I already export to Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as Latin American countries."
"However, I have not been able to enter Argentina yet,” explains Luciana Camarota, stylist and owner of the beachwear brand of the same name, in existence only five years, but exporting since day one. “I found out the Argentines do not like much shine. To enter the market, I'm only going to keep the embroidery and hand paintings.”
Invest in the brand and image before thinking about exporting: The consultant for the Portuguese and Spanish brands, Dolores Martins, seconds the other consultants when the topic is Brand. “I felt the businesspeople were concerned about finding representatives or distributors in other countries before getting their own product right. You cannot think of launching products in the Iberian market, or in Europe, without first having a well-established brand in your own country."
