Fashion Business sells R$426mn in country & US$14mn abroad

The 10th edition of the Fashion Business closed sales in the amount of R$ 426 million to the domestic market and US$ 14 million in exports, representing an increase of 1.4% and 13.8%, respectively, in relation to the sales of the Spring-Summer 2006-2007 collection. The figures have been announced by the organizers of the event integrated to Fashion Rio.
The public attending the business stock was of 10 thousand visitors, of which five thousand purchasers, where 150 are national vips from 23 states and 105 international from 30 different countries.
Among the approximately 90 exhibitors, representatives of 14 Brazilian states, among which the Amazon, which participated for the first time, at the Talentos do Brasil space [Talents of Brazil space], a partnership between the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Sebrae. Trade representatives of Mexico and Singapore closed the highest import volumes.
Among the exhibitors, the biggest representations, after Rio de Janeiro, with 42 brands, Minas Gerais, with nine brands and one more center, and São Paulo, with seven brands. The major brands of Rio de Janeiro, like Mara Mac, Maria Bonita Extra, Cavendish, Tessuti, Glorinha Paranaguá and Equatore, beside newer ones like Espaço Fashion had excellent results.
Laísa Brasil, trade manager for Cavendish, revealed that the brand attracted five new international purchasers and expanded its customer base throughout Brazil by attracting multi-brand storekeepers from Amazon and Espírito Santo, beside renewing orders for the spring-summer 07-08 season, along with storekeepers that are loyal to this brand in the Northeast region, South of the country, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Mid-West region.
