RS Group, owing jeans manufacturing company RS Fashion has decided to set up a spinning facility at the cost of Rs 900million in La Tour Keonig and would go on stream by June 2006.

Initially, the denim facility will cater to local requirement and later, export denim to Madagascar and Kenya. Europe will be the final frontier the company plans to export its denim to.

New factory will employ 600 persons and will produce 18 million metres of denim every year ultimately satisfying the Groups requirement of denim cloth.

As the country's sole denim manufacturer Ital Denim produces only 10 million metres while the demand is double that capacity at 20 million.

Problem of short supply is solved partially by importing denim from other countries, particularly Lesotho in case of RS Fashion.

However, time factor resulting in delayed deliveries is what one has to contend with.
