Zimbabwean fashion industry is still trying hard to make its mark in thriving global arena. There are not many support systems available for the designers who are immensely talented. They are constantly on a look out for some opportunity that will give them international fame.

However, Terrie Mahati, a Zimbabwean based in the UK, has emerged as an idol for all the domestic designers. His renowned label 'Kunta Kinte Conscious Clothing', is one of the most renowned African labels that has become quite popular among youth.

Terrie is all set to spell his magic in Germany, as his collection will be displayed at the Bread and Butter Trade Show, an event for selected brands. The gala event is scheduled from July 2 to 4 in Barcelona. Kunta Kinte will be the only African fashion label, which would be showcased in the exhibition.

The fashion line includes wide range of fashionable garments and accessories like Safari suits, t-shirts belts and bush hats. Renowned Zimbabwean rappers and hip hop artists like Sizzla, Stic-man, Zim and Buju Banton have wore Terrie's distinctively designed cloths.

The label has strong sense of identification with the music industry especially with genres like hip-hop and reggae with the brand. It stands out from the crowd and shows off a rich cultural legacy that Africa can proudly boast about.

Celebrated Alex Haley film, Roots, has inspired the designer to conceptualize cloths that are hot favourites among young fashion conscious people. The designs are all about the journey of blacks, their 400 years of enslavement and positive changes that are now taking place in the society.

African designers are hopeful about their future as Mahati's participation in global show is seen as a major break through. Experts believe that, it will create awareness on a international level about the interesting and creative skills of domestic Zimbabwean designers.
