Major brands rush to reap retail boom

In a bid to cash in on retail boom, some major companies are planning to increase quality retail outlets in the next one year.

Cottons, the apparel brand from Century Textile and Industries Ltd is planning to open 100 more stores and about 50 franchisee outlets, to make the total number to 250 by March 2008.

The company aims to reach a turnover of Rs100 crore by next fiscal, which is Rs50 crore in the present financial year.

Brandhouse Retails, a subsidiary of S Kumars Nationwide Ltd plans to target all income groups in metros and non-metros as consumers have become brand conscious and can afford as well.

Brandhouse Retails plans to open 1200 stores this year for its brands Reid & Taylor, Belmonte, and Carmichael House.

Thomas Scott, the Rs65 crore apparel brand of the Bang group of companies, is also planning an aggressive retailing this year. By 2008, the company targets to increase its number of stores to 100 from the present 4.

Park Avenue, the highest selling brand of Raymond, is planning to open 55 exclusive outlets all over India by December 2007.
