The Austin Chamber of Commerce and SXSW Interactive announced the 12 most promising Austin-area startup companies named to the list in three investment stage categories - emerging, growth and scale – at the inaugural State of Innovation event on May 7 at ACL Live in Austin, Texas.

Honorees, chosen from over 250 nominations, represent key sectors of innovation including enterprise, big data, social, health, entertainment and consumer product goods. Recognition as an A-List company is intended to increase the visibility of Austin’s most fundable, scalable and innovative regional startups, and drive increased venture capital funding to Central Texas.

At the event, Mayor Lee Leffingwell honored innovation and the remarkable state of innovation in Austin, proclaiming May 7 “Austin Innovation Day.”
