China counters US on re-imposing quota on textile imports

US government has decided to impose quotas on the three out of fourteen types of textile & apparel imports from China.
Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements informed that China can export to the US will be limited to an increase of just 7.5 % this year, compared to last 12-months shipments.
China announced that it strongly counters US decision on re-imposing quota on three categories of textile which include knitted shirts, cotton trousers, and cotton & synthetic fibre underwear.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, Chong Quan explained in a statement that China believes that its exports have not effected the US market negatively, as the US side has argued on the basis on the figures of the Q1, 2005 results.
China stated that it is a violation of pertinent WTO agreements.
