According to EU diplomats, Mandelson's visit is viewed as a last-ditch effort to arrive at a negotiated solution prior to the imposition of "safeguards."
China's Commerce Minister BoXilai has been stoutly defending China's position falling short at calling them 'unfair and unjust.'
The way EU responds, will become a measure for how developed countries enforce free trade, he viewed.
China argues that attempts by developed countries to impose limits on textiles are discriminatory and protectionist, undercutting the very principles of free trade they are promoting.
Ministry of Commerce website informs today that Bo has vowed to fight for the rights of China's textile industry.
Today, Mandelson is scheduled to meet Bo and there is an air of expectance on the outcome of the talks in the afternoon.
Mandelson's visit follows US Trade Representative Rob Portman and U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez visit last weekend to Beijing could not make any progress in solving the existing textiles imbroglio.
