Peru's fabric & apparel exports touch $1.2bn in Jan-Nov'13

Exports of fabrics and clothing from Peru touched US$ 1.24 billion during the period of January to November 2013, as per the data released by the Textile and Apparel Committee of the Peruvian Association of Exporters (ADEX).
 
According to the ADEX Trade Data for Textiles and Apparel report, during the first eleven months of 2013, Peru exported fabrics and apparel worth $1.24 billion, indicating a decline of 14.23 percent, compared to the $1.45 billion exports of fabrics and apparel during the same period in 2012.
 
During the January to November 2013 period, the highest exports were from the apparel sector with the country exporting garments worth$1.1 billion. However, apparel exports registered a decline of 12.2 percent during the first eleven months of 2013, compared to the same period in 2012.
 
Peru exported fabrics amounting to $107,104 recording a fall of 31.5 percent in January to November 2013, compared to the same period in 2012.
 
During the first eleven months of 2013, clothing exports accounted for 91.4 percent, whereas fabric exports represented only 8.6 percent of the total fabrics and clothing exports from Peru
 
As per the ADEX data, exports of clothing and fabrics from Peru to Venezuela, which is one of the main destinations, declined by 45 percent during the January to November 2013 period, compared to the same period in 2012.
