Dull demand pulls down European benzene prices last week

In Europe, benzene prices showed downward trend as in other parts of the world last week, due to weaker downstream product prices, upstream energy prices and dull demand in the region.

In the initial days of last week, prices were at US$ 1475/ton, lower by US$ 5/ton as compared to the same period of its previous week.

Benzene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1445-1475/ton FOB Rotterdam last week as compared to US$ 1480-1510/ton in its previous week.

Initial contract prices for the month of August were settled at € 1082/ton CIF ARA, higher by € 6/ton as compared to the contract prices of July.

In the European market, benzene prices were assessed at US$ 1400/ton on August 5.

In US, benzene prices too showed similar trend as in Europe and rest of world last week.

Prices were assessed in the range of 495-510 cents/gallon FOB US last week, as compared to 505-535 cents/gallon in its previous week.

Contract prices for the month of August were settled at US$ 5.06/gallon, lower by 22 cents/gallon as compared to that of July.

On August 4, benzene prices were assessed at 485-490 cents/gallon in the US market.
