29 projects worth Rs8k crores signed at Vibrant Gujarat Textiles Seminar

Vibrant Gujarat Summit on textiles witnessed a record signing of MoUs for 29 projects worth Rs8156 crores that will generate approximately 88000 jobs.

Girnar Hall at Science City near Ahmedabad was all abuzz with frantic business activity being carried out on the textiles front within the State of Gujarat under the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2007, on January 13, 2007.

The above fact reiterates the state's leadership in this particular sector and it prominently emerged as speaker after speaker on the elite panel lauded the political, industrial and social climate of the State.

An elite panel of speakers included Mr Arvind Agarwal, IAS, Industries Commissioner, Mr Sanjay Dalmia, Chairman, GHCL, Mr Rory Holmes, President, INDA, Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, USA, Mr Hemchandra Javeri, President, Madura Garments, Mr Madhu Kapoor, Managing Director, Apparel & Leather Technics Pvt Ltd, Mr Atul Ujagar, Country Director, Nike, Inc, Mr Arun Jariwala, Chairman, The Surat Art Silk Cloth Manufacturers Association and Dr P R Roy, National President, Textile Association of India.

Holmes introduced his association through a multi-media presentation highlighting its activities and areas of operation that could help promote nonwoven & technical textiles within the State.

Hemchandra Javeri spoke of the apparel sector's competitiveness and how the sector along with retail would offer three tectonic plate changes within the industry.
