Similarly, share of textile exports in total exports reduced to 58 percent compared to 65 percent in previous year.

During first four months, only exports of five items posted growth. Exports of cotton cloth, bed wear and readymade garments recorded a decline of 18.5 percent, 19.3 percent and 7.2 percent, respectively.

In October 2006, textile exports reached $783 million compared to $824 million in previous month, down by 5 percent.
