Flood-affected textile units of Surat likely to be aided in Feb

All flood affected textile units of Surat are likely to get financial aid in the month of February, according to official sources.
Of the 6000 affected textile units, so far, 20 units from different sectors have already received financial aid from the Rs77 crore package assured by the Ministry of Textiles.
In a telephonic interview, S P Varma, Officer-in-Charge, Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Ahmedabad informed Fibre2fashion that funds for disbursal are awaited from Home Affairs Ministry and the entire process of disbursement should ideally be completed by February 2007.
After due assessment, the Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Ahmedabad short-listed around 6000 units that would be provided financial assistance falling in textile mills, power looms and SSI units categories.
