Noirs fourth collection entitled "Reflection” is a celebratory tribute to freethinking, self invention, sexual emancipation, and glamorous decadence.
The Aesthetic of the collection is rooted in the cabaret scene of 1930's Weimar Berlin; a mesmerizing metropolis of night people, visionaries, artists, sexual entrepreneurs and political fanatics: Sinners and saints.
A place filled with intrigue, where vice and virtue were found in abundance. It was a grand salon, a centre of European intellectual life where the arts and the sciences flourished.
This centre of sexual elegance and decadence is the setting against the rising restraint and discipline of the political scene and indeed the retrospect perception of who was the saint and who was the sinner is setting the scene for the Noir Automne/ Hiver 2007 collection.
In line with traditional NOIR-Illuminati II philosophy of duelling darkness with light, reflecting negative with positive and reconsidering what is sinful and what is pure, the collection is once again conceived in masculine/feminine contrasts: Meticulous tailoring is set against 30's floaty anti volume in tops and dresses. Androgynous uniform icons are emancipated by diamante embellishment. Carefully crafted and precisely shaped shoulder lines make love to long, sleek, elegantly glam silhouettes ……austerity is mirrored by glamorous decadence.
“Reflection” continues to celebrate the multifaceted cotton fibre which is so fundamentally wedded to Noir. Sensually transparent organdies, refined tuxedo shirting and sateen surfaced cotton unite with uniform inspired wool and 30's authentic crepe in conveying the more sober end of the fabric selection.
