Guatemalan enterprises are interested in doing business in Dominican Republic, particularly in fields of textile and furniture.

A trade delegation from Guatemala, consisting of eight companies, arrived in the country yesterday to sign deals with domestic firms and to demonstrate products. They will leave tomorrow.

Efe Nestor Monrroy, Business Charge of Guatemalan Embassy in Dominican Republic, conveyed to media persons that bilateral trade between both nations is more beneficial to Guatemala, whose exports to the country stood at $78.5 million last year.

Bilateral trade mainly includes traditional items like textiles, plastic and medicines. Dominicans inked an FTA with the US and Central America in 2004, which remains on paper only till today.
