Govt to promote works of Kashmiri artisans in other states

For upliftment of rural artisan belonging to Below Poverty Line sections (BPL) and to provide marketing facility for their products at the national level, Minister for Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Peerzada Mohammad Syeed said that 16 stalls have been provided to J&K rural artisan in different states of the country.
Inaugurating 13 days Regional SARAS Trade Fair 2005, first of its kind in the state organized by J&K Rural Development today at Polo ground Srinagar, Peerzada said that main slogans of this Trade Fair is “No Trader, No Middleman” and “Artisan and Customer Face to Face”. The department has managed to keep the entry free for all which will add to its sale and publicity.
Peerzada said that main objective of department is to give boost to the rural craft, which is our cultural heritage and added that various Self Help Groups have been framed under different schemes by providing loan facilities to them, so that they can earn their livelihood.
He said that government would provide training to about 5000 educated youth belong to BPL of rural craft across the state enabling them to start their own enterprenial units is in their areas.
While appreciating the DRDA Project Officer, Kupwara to his 100% achievements by providing the loan facility to all Self Help Groups constituted in the district under various schemes, Peerzada called upon all the officers to work with dedication for the benefit of the state particularly for these people.
