Cotton textiles export to Bangladesh to reach Rs1,325 crore this fiscal

MUMBAI: Cotton textiles export comprising mainly of cotton yarn and fabrics to Bangladesh are expected to reach Rs1,325 crore-mark for financial year 2006-07, according to industry sources.
Presently cotton textiles export are around Rs1,000 crore annually. The exports have been increasing at a rate of over 35 percent during last five years.
"Exports are rising steadily and it continues to be the third largest destination for Indian cotton textiles products. The quick expansion of textiles industry in Bangladesh has prompted the industry there to meet the rising demand of raw material through increased exports mainly cotton yarn and fabrics," an official with Texprocil said.
Bangladesh has become a major centre for production of home textiles and so there is demand for home textile fabrics and conversion of apparel is going on increasing.
