To develop common strategy and act together in the textile, ready-to-wear, carpet and leather sectors, the Istanbul Textile & Apparel Exporters' Association (ITKIB) and the Russian Union of Textile and Light Industry Entrepreneurs (Rostextile) signed an agreement.

Boris M Fomin, President of Rostextile, Süleyman Orakcioglu President of Istanbul Ready-To-Wear & Apparel Exporters' Association (IHKIB), Ismail Gülle President of Istanbul Textile & Raw materials Exporters' Association (ITHIB), Lemi Tolunay President of Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association (IDDMIB) and Ibrahim Yilmaz President of Istanbul Carpet Exporters' Association (IHIB) participated in the ceremony.

As the agreement was signed between these two countries for the first time, committees compromised/accorded in increasing foreign trade in a protocol including 19 articles.

At the ceremony speech Süleyman Orakcioglu President of IHKIB mentioned the importance of protocol, which will remove the business difficulties between both countries and added, “We believe that with this protocol our difficulties with Russia regarding custom tariff rates and reference prices will be removed and the volume of foreign trade will expand”.

Orakcioglu indicated that the place and weight of Federation of Russia is increasing in Turkey everyday.

Orakcioglu stated that the textile and ready-to-wear sectors of both countries show complementary signs in production, marketing and logistics and with the cooperation of sectors both sides will benefit.
