'Super S Code' Now Law in USA:
In a move welcomed by the global apparel industry, US President George W. Bush recently signed into United States law the Wool Suit Fabric Labelling Fairness and International Standards Conforming Act which adds definitions of fine and superfine wool and cashmere.
This new law means that USA labeling requirements now conform to the 'Super S Code' circulated by the International Wool Textile Organisation as well as ensuring that 'cashmere' uses only genuine cashmere fibre.
Unscrupulous manufacturers attempting to defraud consumers now face fines of US$11,000 per violation and US Customers may also confiscate shipments at the port.
