Strategic bilateral ties under the multilateral frameworks of the UN, the EU and the Group of Eight (G8) will be pursued with Germany, informed External Affairs Minister K. Natwar Singh, Monday.
Speaking at the function organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, he said, "Both countries are pushing forward the strategic ties enshrined in the vision document Agenda for Indo-German Partnership in the 21st Century."
He also released a book titled 'India and Germany: Shaping the Future,' during the occassion.
He said, "Given the size and complementarities of our respective economies, we need to facilitate greater trade and investment."
Singh pointed out sectors of growth like auto components, biotech, chemicals, cotton, IT, entertainment, healthcare, engineering goods, leather, fresh and processed food, floriculture, medicines, silk, sports goods and toys.
Besides traditional areas, knowledge-driven sectors like IT and biotechnology held promise for bilateral cooperation, he opined.
