Exclusive Ferragamo footwear on display in Shanghai

To celebrate 80th anniversary of the famous Italian shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo, an exhibition opened yesterday at the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai in People's Park. The display will continue till May 7, where more than 500 exclusive pieces are kept for the spectators.

The vintage shoes and accessories at the expo 'Salvatore Ferragamo Evolving Legend 1928-2008', comprises Italian shoe designer's hand-made stylish footwear that he offered to Hollywood glitterati and other famous personalities.

The exhibition is divided in 11 different sections the origins, Hollywood, Palazzo Sprini Feroni and Florence, handicrafts, fabrics, inventions and patents, comfort, game, nature, cinema and VIP. One can also look at the sketches Ferragamo made before crafting them into awe-inspiring footwears.

The Comfort section has large shoe-shaped sofas where visitors can watch vintage footage. It shows how Ferragamo came to design and create a shoe. There are 82 women's and 52 men's fits showing the huge range of shoe sizes, in this area.

The showcase includes contemporary shoes made of various luxurious skins as well as from inexpensive materials such as straw, cellophane and plastic with extensive use of embroidery and beads.

Ferragamo, was recognized as a visionary, and his designs ranged from strikingly bizarre creations to the traditionally elegant footwears. The exhibition aims to highlight his sheer genius to the shoe lovers.
