Zacks Fashions has found its knights in shining armour. The 87-year old Ontario woman's clothing chain that went into receivership earlier in the year has been purchased by three fashion industry players from Montreal.

Jeff Fixman, president and owner of Modes Cazza Inc, which operates 29 Cazza Petite boutiques in Quebec and Ontario specializing in women 5-foot-4 and under, joined forces with Jeffrey and Michael Cape, vice presidents of Collection Conrad C, a major Montreal fashion manufacturer and importer, to acquire the chain.

One hundred of the original employees re-hired as Zacks rises like a phoenix from bankruptcy ashes, the new owners are keeping 15 of the 28 Zacks stores.

The plan is to bring new vision to the Zack's brand, which has been a destination for many Ontario shoppers. The vision is to help bring new life and excitement to an industry that has been experiencing insolvencies at all levels recently.

Fixman and the Cazza team will oversee the day-to-day retail operations of Zacks through Cazza's headquarters in Montreal. The team plans to update the look of the chain as well as to streamline efficiency processes.

Elliot Lifson, president Canadian Apparel Federation praised the team's acquisition. The Federation welcomes initiatives that are not "just good for the industry supply side, but for retailers and creditors," adds Lifson, also professor at McGill University's MBA program.
