The 38th Mido has come to a close. The results have been positive, with almost 46,000 visitors, an increase of 1% over 2007.

More Italians visited show, above all on the first two days (+30 % on the first day), while the number of foreigner visitors remained steady.

Excellent feedback from exhibitors, all agreeing in defining the exhibition as an essential event for companies operating in the sector.

The numbers underline MIDO's place as the world's leading eyewear exhibition: 54,640 square meters of net exhibition space, around 1000 sq.m more than the record established last time, which in turn was 15% higher than in 2006, and a total of 1,246 exhibitors.

Significant results for a market that in recent months has not been outstanding, affected by the international economic situation in general.

Numerous new products and solutions were presented in the halls exhibiting lenses and frames. The importance of Mido Tech, the area completely devoted to machinery, technology and raw materials, that is, everything needed for production, was once again confirmed.

Another success was the MIDO Design Lab area, hall 6, the essence of the most innovative and advanced proposals.

Visitors and exhibitors were likewise enthusiastic about the carefully designed and detailed layout, aimed at being the source of inspiration for the Mido Business Forum in Rome.

Mido also continued its commitment against counterfeiting. For the last 13 years, in fact, the anti-counterfeiting office has been operating at the event, this year handling 25 cases. Offences involving the counterfeiting of both brands and models were reported.

This issue is one of Mido's overriding priorities, continually focusing on its mission to guarantee the quality of the products shown at the exhibition and the professionalism of the exhibitors.

The next Mido exhibition will take place in Milan, from 6 to 9 March 2009, while the Business Forum in Rome will be held from 4 to 6 September 2009.
