According to statistics of the Huangpu Customs, Dongguan exported 480,000,000 pairs of shoes in November this year, down 9.5 percent compared to the same period last year. However, average export price grew to US $4.8 per pair, up 28.6 percent, due to which the total export value reached $2.36 billion, an increase of 17.3 percent over November 2007.

In the period January to November this year, 480 million pairs of shoes were exported from the processing trade, down 9.5 percent and accounting for 97.6 percent of Dongguan's total shoes exports, while on the other hand 11.85 million pairs were exported from the general trade, thereby registering a growth of 31.5 percent.

In a country wise breakdown of figures in the first eleven months of 2008, shipments of shoes from Dongguan touched 330 million pairs to the United States, down 12.1 percent; exports to the EU were 54.03 million pairs, down 2.8 percent and exports to Japan 35.74 million pairs, a decrease of 11 percent.
