Chairing a high level meeting the Textile Minister, Mr Mohammed Khan said that the government is taking a number of steps to bring a qualitative as well as quantitative improvement of the textile industry.

He said, despite financial constraints, maximum relief was being provided to the textile industry to provide relief to the sector, which has been groaning under the strain of the global recessionary trends.

On the question of electric load shedding which was affecting the productivity of textile units he said, steps are being taken to improve electric production and improvements in electric supply would be noticeable from July 10.

He regretted that despite the undertaking given to textiles companies that only 4 hour load shedding would be observed, it was reaching 6 hours per day, due to a fault in one of the power stations, which had led to reduced output.
