Consumer clothing & footwear costly at 13.5% in Sept

Statistics Sweden released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September 2005.

Higher prices on clothing and footwear but unchanged inflation rate.

Swedish consumer prices increased on average with 0.7 percent from August to September. The inflation rate in September was 0.6 percent (0.6 percent in August and 0.5 percent in September 2004). CPI for September 2005 is 281.9 (1980=100).

The Net Price Index (NPI), index number (1980=100), monthly and annual changes, has been revised for August 2005.

Higher prices for clothing and footwear (13.5 percent) contributed with 0.7 percentage points to the monthly change in the CPI.

In September the underlying inflation as an annual rate by UND1X was 1.0 percent (1.0 percent in August). The Harmonised Index (HICP) increased with 0.9 percent from August to September and increased by 1.1 percent since September 2004. The Net Price Index (NPI) increased with 0.7 percent from August to September and with 0.1 percent since September 2004.

Statistics Sweden is a central government authority for official statistics and other government statistics and in this capacity also has the responsibility for coordinating and supporting the Swedish system for official statistics.
